Apart from its mission to secure fair payment for authors and publishers, and to provide users with a legal and practical copying system, CLASS' roles include obtaining mandates from its membership of publishers and authors as well as rightsholders of fellow organisations belonging to the International Federation of Reproduction Rights Organisation (IFRRO), of which CLASS is an affiliate.
